What You May Not Know About Massage

Most people view massage as a luxury. What you may not realize are the health benefits.  Massage can do more for your body then just relax.  Even your basic Swedish massage can cause an overall change to your body.

Let’s talk about massage for relaxation.  When your body is in a relaxed state, your breathing becomes deeper and slower helping to release endorphins. Endorphins enhance the immune system, relieve pain, reduce stress, and slow the aging process.

It also helps with:

  •             Anxiety
  •             Lowering blood pressure
  •             Relieving Headaches
  •             Promoting deeper sleep after massage
  •             Increased circulation (great for diabetics, or any form of neuropathy)
  •             Eliminating toxins from your body

That’s just the basics. Depending on what your concerns are, massage can be used for a verity on issues. Deep Tissue, Trigger Point and Cupping massage can all be used to help alleviate pain and promote healing to injured muscles. Lymphatic Drainage massage is great for post-operation swelling.  Cross Fiber Friction can be used to reduce the appearance of scars. And if that’s not enough, you also burn calories while getting a massage of any kind.

In the ten years that I have been a massage therapist, I have worked on all manners of clients.  I have worked alongside chiropractors and surgeons, to helping clients who just feel overwhelmed with their day to day lives. With massage, the benefits are endless.
